Either the jury could continue its deliberations and reach a unanimous verdict, which of course is the goal of a trial, or there could be a mistrial as a result of a hung jury or this particular juror issue.
Or if Lindsey Clancy's defense attorney gets his way, he wants one juror removed and an alternate juror put in their place so that deliberation

When this happened, you couldn't see much reaction from Lindsay's family, but Lindsay's reaction was obvious.
She appeared to start crying.
You could see her shoulders shaking from behind, and then her lawyer, Kevin Reddington, leaned over and put his right arm around her and started rubbing her shoulder to comfort her.
At that moment, uh court closed and we were all ordered out of the courtroom, but she was clearly emotional.

18 jurors were selected for this trial in the event somebody needed to drop out, because remember, only 12 deliberate, but all 18 stayed for the entire duration of this case.
In addition to that, I think the judge was referring to how thorough the jury has been when it comes to looking at all of this evidence.
I mean, we know that early in deliberations, they asked to see the knife that Lindsay used to harm herself on the night of those killings, as well as her pick.

So that and all the time that they're taking so far to deliberate suggests that they didn't take their role as jurors lightly in this case.
To me, it really seems like these people understand the gravity and the seriousness of the job they have here.
Absolutely.
I would say, in particular, throughout deliberations, I've noticed that over the course of the trial they were focused and attentive and certainly emotional when the most emotional testimony happened or the most emotional evidence was played.
But over the last, you know, week or so deliberations, I've I've really started to notice that they look tired.
