So it was a normal day for me.

I had come home the night before from school, got my son from the babysitter.

Tony and I had went through our normal evening routine and he had a lot of trouble going to sleep, but it was really hot.

It's the end of June.

And he finally settled down and I woke up early in the morning and my first thought was it's foggy in my house and that didn't really make sense.

Then once I realized I was seeing smoke, then you go into just sheer panic.

You're trying to figure out where he is.

He had gotten up off the couch and went into his bedroom.

So I try to get in there and there's fire in the doorway.

And I quickly realized I'm not going to get in that way.

So I run out.

I'm screaming for somebody to come help me.

I pick up his tricycle and I busted out the window and I tried to climb through and get him.

I was unable to do so because the neighbors pulled me out and told me, no, I had to wait for law enforcement.

When they got there, I mean, I know it was quick, but when you're in that moment, nobody could have arrived fast enough in my mind.

They went in, they got my son out.

And of course, as soon as I heard that they had him, I was calm because I thought everything's going to be all right.

It's all going to be okay.

It wasn't until I got to the hospital that I found out he had died in the fire.

And then at that point, you're just kind of in shock.
