But then we got a forensic toxicologist and she determined that he'd actually died of smoke inhalation.
So he had gotten to a very high carbon monoxide level.
And by the time the fire broke out, he was already gone.
He was gone when I was trying to save him and I didn't know it.

Doesn't signify an arson.
An arson burns very hot and very fast and gives off low levels of carbon monoxide.
But an accidental electrical fire, especially one that starts in the ceilings or the wall, they burn very slowly and smolder and they give off huge amounts of carbon monoxide.
I think my biggest hope is always that someone...
will reach out and get a lawyer to protect themselves no matter what the circumstances are.
Because a lot of times accidents happen, things happen in day-to-day life.
And when the police come in and talk to you, you don't know what route they're going to take with the questioning, what somebody else may have said, how somebody may be interpreting the evidence.
So I hope that anybody that's in that situation would just go ahead and get a lawyer and make sure they're protected.
It doesn't mean you're guilty.
It doesn't mean you're not guilty.
It means you want to protect yourself.
That's correct.
And most people are afraid that it's going to be looked at like they're guilty if they ask for an attorney.
That's not the case at all.
They're just watching out for themselves.
