And then this ATF chemist testified that he had found accelerant in his bedroom.
My jury took four hours.
They convicted me.
I was sentenced to 60 years for murder, 50 years for arson, and sent to the Indiana Women's Prison, which is a maximum security facility in Indiana.
It took probably six years before I was able to get an attorney to take a look at my case.
Once she did, she told me she believed I was innocent.
We just had to fight it.
So being in prison, I didn't have a lot of resources.
I wrote to innocence networks around the country.
At that time, Indiana did not have an innocence project.
So I was writing to projects out of state, hoping they would come in and help.
