So all this new evidence was presented and the altered report.
My original judge and prosecutor took almost a year before they said none of that information would have made a difference to my jury.
So then we had to appeal the process.
That was granted.
Most people don't realize they pick one case out of 100 to listen to.
So I was blessed.
They took my case.
They listened to it.
Usually you get a quick response from the appellate court.
It took them almost a year before they reversed my conviction and remanded me back for a new trial.
And so I walked out of prison August 22nd of 2012.
I had been in there 17 years, three weeks and a few days.

So I got an associate's and bachelor's degree from Ball State University.
I am a licensed cosmetologist, a certified paralegal, and a certified vet tech dog groomer and dog trainer because I trained dogs for nine years for physically and developmentally handicapped children.
Yes, those helped.
But when I gave birth to my second son, Trent, and today is actually his birthday.
My kid brother took him.
And so I saw him as often as he could get him there.
And when he was younger, that was every week.
