When I turned about 16, the season started overlapping.

And I decided, let's go with this athletics thing and try and travel the world.

You can only travel around Australia once.

playing footy so i was like let's go try travel the world with this thing and i tried pole vault when i was 12. um and i was like all right let's let's see how you go this the local coach in adelaide said you know come down have a crack and if you can jump head high on day one you should you should stick out this and uh jump head high so i was pretty happy with that a meter 60 or whatever you know you just start with a straight pole

broomstick essentially, and then you work your way into bending poles and 16 years later, yeah, finally cracked the six.

Yeah, a lot actually.

So we're both based in Perth now.

So I moved to Perth in 2018 to basically go over there and copy what she does because she does it pretty damn well.

And, yeah, moved over to be coached at the Western Australian Institute of Sport over there.

It's a very good elite pole vault set up.

And now, yeah, obviously be coached by one of my best mates who –

Moved over there as well, Declan Carruthers.

Oh, Declan.

He's the wizard behind all my six-metre jumps this year.

And, yeah, we all work as a group and we have a good bunch of coaches, good little squad over there.

Nina's doing incredible things in this sport, like pushing the boundaries for women.

So I thought I've got to try and keep up with this Mondo dude and try and do what she's doing.

But a little bit harder for me, he's breaking world records, you know, four times a year.

So I've got to still...

Still get it and, yeah, see if I can follow in her footsteps.
