You're going back and forth.
But, hey, you lose games like that.
When you lose like you did last night, even if it was 4-0 –
as you said, as I said, lifeless.
And this offseason, there was this focus from the analytical department of the Royals to bring the fences in.
We're going to add more runs.
A guy like Vinny Pasquantino can go from a 30-home run season to a 40-home run season.
You can add 5 to 10 home runs to Mikel Garcia's numbers.
And what we've seen in 56 games is an offense that outside of maybe...
a few series here and there, they don't have a well-constructed lineup that plays off of power, slug, on base.
Last year, there was this emphasis into we want to work the count.
We want to do what the Yankees did to us in the ALDS of make a starter, throw 90 pitches at the end of five innings, or maybe 90 pitches at the end of four innings where you're already having to go into the bullpen, but it just hasn't worked.
And you can't win a championship when you're rolling the dice.
And yes, a lot of baseball is just gambling, putting out your best lineup, putting out your best players.
But to me, there has to be, at least now, maybe a look in the mirror moment and go,
Was the roster we assembled and the hitting philosophy we've tried to adapt to able to be successful here?
Can you have this philosophy of, well, let's change the launch angle of some of these guys.
Let's hit the ball hard.
Let's barrel it up.
