So in my mind –
The 49ers are trying to prepare for what life might look like without Michael Williams to have that versatile edge defender.
And it's probably not going to be the player we're talking about.
But what if it is one of these other guys like a Jaden Duggar, like a third round pick, Nick Martin?
So they're probably going to want a similar body type to come in after him just to give the offense a different look or to give some defense some consistency there.
So that's what I took from the signings.
But man, it's just the fact that we're talking about the depth chart like four days in, not just the regular depth chart, right?
Not just the dudes at the top of the depth chart.
We're talking about some guys that we've probably never heard of that signed off the street.
I'm watching Quentin Bell against Drake May and Quentin Bell against the Bills last year.
Just like, OK, who is this dude?

So, again, I think it's just to prepare for what a potential life could look like with more five-man fronts because that might be what the 49ers have to rely on, especially if we don't see Michael Williams early on.
I think this is good news for a player like Enrique Cruz, just to get more and more reps.
Yeah, exactly what I was going to say.
If anything, I think you just leave him out there and kind of let him learn on the fly, maybe lose and fail on the fly, and he gets to go against some big-time majors.
So, ideally, that would be Nick Bosa.
It's not going to be Michael Williams.
He gets to go a good speed and just different looks from Raheem Morris.
So, yeah, I would imagine Enrique Cruz more than anybody.
