And immediately this woman raises her hand and she's like, yeah, I just came from this other industry and our stuff would work great over there.

And they open up a new line in that industry and it becomes multi-million dollar line of business.

And he went back to her and he's like, thank you so much for sharing that.

That's great.

Why didn't you tell me that before?

And she said, because you didn't ask.

In her mind, she's showing up to work every day.

She's given a list of tasks to do.

She's given responsibility.

She's getting good performance reviews.

She keeps getting raises.

All signs point to you are doing every aspect of your job well.

And she was.

At the end of the day, it's not her job to give ideas to the CEO until he makes it her job.

And so if you make it other people's job and say, hey, you know what?

Part of your role is I want you to show me the stuff that I can't see.

Part of your role is like, help me crack this code because I can't do it on my own.

And I need your help.

And if you build an environment like that, one, you get better ideas, you get more ideas, you get access to ideas that your competitors couldn't have because they don't have the exact same inputs that you have.

But also you create an environment that people don't wanna leave.
