And it's so important.

You don't even realise the impact.

And you don't realise, especially as young people, that this may be it.

This is their one experience that they get to realise that there's more to the world than whatever is their reality.

Yeah.

There's creativity.

There's like in that there's change that can happen.

You know, it just opens their eyes wider.

You know, my mum and dad also had a life skills course in there, you know, all sorts of stuff.

It's planting seeds, eh?

Yeah.

Yeah.

Totally.

That's exactly what it is.

Yeah, interestingly, when I came up here, I remember coming up here when I was a kid because my grandparents lived in Mangere and I saw similar things but with sport.

You know, and they probably had them in Christchurch too.

I just wasn't part of that.

I just was a part of the performing arts, creative arts part of it.

But, yeah, I could see, I could understand that this is what was happening, that they were putting these sort of like same strategy in place for young people to participate and be a part of something, belong to something.

And it still has the same impact too.
