And you'd hear like he blew up and that it was amazing.

My whole family was into hip hop at this point.

We had big girls, DJs, we had the more graffiti writers, just all in our cousin group.

And I started Sheila Rock, which was an all-female hip hop crew.

And this is before Skry blew up, but he was still this underground, really well-known rapper to us and to everyone, to the scene in Christchurch.

So we were just waiting for him to blow.

So when he blew, it was like...

right on it's exactly what we thought was going to happen but nobody else said it was going to happen and then it kind of got a little bit crazy and then it was like too intense yeah there was a moment there was just like wow is this ever going to end it was kind of like he was like the Beatles the kids were like like while his kids were in the car like smashing on the car door to try and I don't know what well what are you doing just get away

You're scaring the kids.

Get away from the kids.

It ended up being like, you know, this sort of paparazzi moment.

But it was just the community just wanted him.

Yeah.

So he kind of couldn't go to like the supermarket and stuff.

And I think it probably gave him anxiety.

I'd imagine it would have given him anxiety.

Yeah.

And, you know, some of us cousins used to just rally around him and try and be helpful where we could.

But he had a whole family.

Like he always had kids and a partner that entire time.
