Kevin Dinney was the head coach.
He was great for me.
He taught me a lot.
He was always there for me.
The organization set me up with a tutor.
And so I was learning how to speak English.
And that kind of switched everything.
It changed everything.
I felt more comfortable on and off the ice.
I could take care of myself.
Yeah, so language barrier was the biggest thing.
And then, you know, when I got traded the following year going to Edmonton, you know, like I always thought that I was a pro, you know, I was working hard, but you don't know what pro is until you enter the NHL.
And seeing the guys around the locker room, you know, we had Jason Smith, we had, you know, Steve Stale, Sean Horkoff, Hammer was there.
Like all these guys, like then you realize, oh, maybe I'm not the pro I thought I was.
You know, I wasn't working hard enough at that, you know, up to that point.
And, you know, but we had such a good group of hardworking guys that I learned that pretty quickly and it served me throughout my career.
I think it all has to connect.
It all works together.
It's not one or the other thing.
When I was starting the NHL, it was fast, but now it's even faster.
