If you can start getting your third overall comfortable with someone that you think actually could be a part of your future as well, why would you not take advantage of that?
You don't need to kind of just go for it if you feel like it's not the right thing.
But again, any way that you can make your top pick comfortable and easier transition whenever that comes, you take it.
That's how I was thinking of it as, yeah, you can easily overthink it, but man, for how long the NHL draft first round is, because holy, that was long.
It takes a long time to get through.
But things are happening throughout that entire time for the management groups, like to be able to get out of that, do your debrief, have a bite to eat and actually kind of just sit back for a second and then reevaluate things.
where everyone went in that first round, who jumped up, who's still there.
And then, yeah, you look at the first two guys you took and start to decide what's the next best piece to go into it.
To me, it's just gathering your information and then being... I think it goes to more what RJ has talked a ton about of trusting your staff.
You don't need to second guess.
If they say, this is the guy we're going with tomorrow...
you've got to trust that.
This is the big opportunity, I think, more than the first round to really let your team take it.
But it's crazy, like, whether at the top of the draft or getting into the late rounds, when you draft for position, like, you know, we were doing the panel yesterday, and Lena was the one that got to talk about the past number three picks.
