How do the Greens feel about it?
Well, I mean, I don't even think the government is proposing a 30% inheritance tax.
They went to great pains to avoid saying that they would touch that kind of testamentary trust bizot.
It all gets super complicated.
That's why we're going to have a look at it in the Senate inquiry.
But fundamentally what the Greens want is for super wealthy corporations and individuals, billionaires, the 160 odd of them that we've got in Australia, although I think we've got a few more now just in the last few weeks.
We want the organisations, the corporations, the people that have all the wealth to stop avoiding tax, to pay their fair share, and from that we raise revenue to distribute it to people who need help, which is everybody else.
You're such a communist, Larissa.
You're out of control.
How dare we think of the people?
I know.
You're crazy.
You're crazy.
I'm sorry I'm not for sale.
I'm sorry.
So that is impossible to answer.
The budget itself predicts that there will be a slight reduction in housing supply, which the government then says is compensated for because they're giving some money for infrastructure to support builds, not builds themselves, but like, you know, energy and transport inputs to homes.
There's a prediction that the rate of house growth will slightly come off, but fundamentally that prices will still grow.
So unfortunately, this is like a whole lot of storm about very little.
House prices are still going to be unaffordable for ordinary people.
