He says basically he's clearly been targeted in a vicious way, but it's also clear that he plagiarized and violated other academic standards.

And the fact is this poor guy uh is dead now, and I think a lot of us feel sort of a collective shame uh about what's happening.

Hopefully this will not diminish efforts to ensure diversity in higher education, because diversity is hugely important in higher education, not just the usual stuff like race, ethnicity, social class, but also things like ideological background, educational background.
