I think it was about 11 o'clock U.S.
time, so about 4 o'clock in the morning here.
So it was quite late.
He maintains that there was still 150,000 people there to listen to it.
Yeah, that's for sure.
And as I say, I mean, it was kind of heavy on history.
He paid tribute to a lot of war veterans.
And by his standards, it was actually relatively light on self-reverence.
Of course, there was some, but there wasn't the usual amount that we associate with Trump's speeches at rallies.
What he did really go double down on was this idea that America is under threat from communists, an apparent reference to some of the left-wing candidates who've won recent primaries.
And he's also talking about the Save America Act, about voter integrity.
So we see some messaging, I think, already emerging ahead of the midterms.
I think he's decided, and remember, this guy is good at messaging.
This is very simplistic and it's not true.
It's palpably not true.
However, when he sees left-wing candidates sponsored by the likes of Zoran Mamdani, he knows that that communism label remains potent and remains powerful with floating voters in Middle America, for instance, who, again, Republicans will try to tie Democrats around the country to the leftists in New York.
He thinks that that has resonance.
And also, here's the really key thing, is that the Latino community, who he did very well with in 2024, they have been drifting away from him and from Republicans since then for obvious reasons.
But perhaps this might be a way of bringing them back in the fold.
yeah look you know i think a lot of the trump oriented things didn't go the way that they wanted to uh the administration wanted to but i do think around the country uh most americans will have a sense that look as they reflect on things yeah america has a lot of problems they might say everywhere in the world does
