you anyway, um Mariah Carey and Luther Van Dross, they did Endless Love together on the Luther Van Dross album uh songs in nineteen ninety-four, which was a cover of Diana Ross and Lionel Ritchie and their the title track to the movie Endless Love, which was a Brooke Shields movie, the I know I know it well.

Yeah.
I also have like a a feeling about this because uh in the early nineties and late eighties, Mariah Carey didn't have much say over her career.
And the label didn't know what to do with her most of the time.
And so I feel like protective of that era of Mariah Carey.
But it's hard for me to deny what Mariah and Luther bring to Endless Love.
Because the original to me, I I don't like the original just fine, but it's pretty schmalty.

It's still like this is very much like Mariah in her ballad era.
But what I love about this version and that it brings it brings more of a a mature realization of what the song is trying to get across.
That uh
Not that Dana Russ and Lionel Ritchie didn't treat the text with the care that it deserved.
I just think that Mariah and Luther they give it a little bit more gravitas.
They are a little bit more tender with how powerful these two people feel about each other and that their their love is endless.
I love the dynamics of their voices too because Luther Van Dross he has such a deep, robust register and to pair that with the the butterfly register of Mariah Carey is such a unique pairing.
It's what this isn't the only duet they've done either.
Yeah.
Like they would go on to have like a a beautiful series of duets over over both of their careers.
