Now, I should highlight that we did briefly tip into positive territory.

So at our best levels of the day, we're up by around a tenth of 1%, but we're pretty much completely flat.

as we head into the close.

At our worst levels, though, we were down by around 0.7%, which looked like it was going to be a one-week low for the Aussie market, but we did recover from those lower levels.

And I think things are just continuing to be quite subdued with investors kind of waiting on the sidelines ahead of some key things happening later this week and also waiting to kind of see what's going on

in the Middle East and if things could potentially repair themselves or if a peace talk is potentially on the table.

Exactly right.

So we have seen oil prices getting towards five-week highs.

They have edged slightly lower in today's session.

As I mentioned at the outset, there are some hopes of peace negotiations between the US and Iran, even though we've seen several days where these tensions are escalating and the attacks just

keep on going.

But we did see in some reports that Iran said mediators were in touch with proposals on how to ease hostility.

So that's why we have seen oil prices come down just a little bit today from those five-week lows.

We should mention gold prices because they've been moving in the opposite direction, up by around 1.5% today.

But keep in mind, gold prices do remain close to their lowest level in about nine months.

Absolutely.

So the tech sector, the big standout for today.

The materials sector also up by around 1.3%, which is helping to offset some of the losses we're seeing elsewhere.

So it is worth mentioning, yes, with gold prices up, we have seen gold miners lifting as well.
