Tonight, we are waiting for that US inflation data, so that could change market pricing on when they think interest rates might move again.
If we do get a softer read, you might see that getting pushed out further, but you might see more certainty of a July hike if the inflation data is stronger than markets are expecting.
We also have Fed Chair Walsh speaking over the next
couple of nights in the United States.
Now, if the recent meeting was anything to go by, he's probably not going to give too much away.
He didn't give many details away at the recent Fed meeting.
But if he does say something, markets might catch on to it and that could drive share markets and interest rate expectations as well.
And of course, you mentioned energy is the outperformer at the moment, up by a little over two and a half percent just in the past couple of days.
Of course, it's only Tuesday and it looks like it's on track for a third straight week of improvements for the energy sector.
So we did see a bit of a fall, of course, last month and for the last couple of months, really, as oil prices sort of slowed from their peaks, but now pushing back up again.
The top performer today, though, has been gaming giant Light and Wonder.
Its share price is up roughly around 8%, and this is after the company reaffirmed its FY26 guidance.
This is, of course, ahead of its full year results.
Now, we have been flagging July's called confession season, and the reason for that is many companies will come out
and update investors about what their guidance might be or where their results might land ahead of full year reporting season, which generally happens in August.
So we have starting to see these filtering through and that can lead to share price swings like we've seen today for Light and Wonder.
The owner of IGA Metcash was a stock that was actually lower today, falling by roughly 4% as it traded yesterday.
ex-dividend.
Remember, this is the cut-off date for those investors eligible to receive a dividend payment, so it is quite normal to see a company's share price fall on the day that it trades ex-dividend.
Now, it is set to pay $0.095 per share to eligible investors on the 26th of August.
