They then come to the next step and that's deciding on who keeps it.
That's a decision you probably both have to make.
So what are the actual options on the table?
Is it one of you keeps it, the other one keeps it, you sell it?
You hold onto it jointly for a period?
Are they all the options?
Okay.
Then how does that decision get made?
Does someone decide that for you or do you just sit down and just nut it out?
Imagine bidding at an auction.
That would be pretty scary.
On your own house.
So you can negotiate it yourselves to figure out who gets to keep the house and then do the property settlement split in that, reflecting that.
And a lot of people do that at mediation, don't they?
If they can't agree by sitting around a coffee table, they go to mediation.
Or if they still can't agree, then they have to go to court.
