I don't know.

I think he lives in a suburb of Limerick somewhere.

And, you know, I lived in Limerick.

So that was insane.

But he kind of spent...

really prolonged periods, just sort of not being very interested in us, which, again, is kind of quite hard to parse and figure out as you're growing up.

And you have to build a bunch of stories sort of about why that might be and what you should do with it.

It's one of those situations that kind of if you talk to someone who grows up in a secure, stable sort of middle class, functional, respectable home,

is quite incomprehensible to them.

But my father lived in the same city, Limerick, where I grew up until he died.

And my brother lives there.

So my brother would kind of be, you know, walking my niece and nephew who are little children.

And he would see my father arbitrarily somewhere who wouldn't recognize his own son and think I'd better, you know, all across the street to get the children other where.

And

Which is just such a kind of messed up arithmetic to have to do.

And if you explain that to someone who, as most people do, think they have a kind of, you know, a relatively solid picture of what a father is meant to be, that's really not it.

And it's quite alienating, I think.

to say something like that to somebody who just can't really comprehend it.

And I think a lot of people can't really comprehend it, but also a lot of people can disappointingly, upsettingly.

And I think we don't really talk about that that much.
