A lot of times when I represent people
men that were the working spouses, the moms are like, well, we're not available that day.
So you're not going to see the kids that day.
And they're like, how am I going to get more time with my kids?
Whereas, so there's more power there, but just power in terms of society finances and making whatever the deal is going to be in the divorce.
We give up a lot of power when we step out of that workforce.
And it's,
it's a hard choice to make.
Like what are the non-negotiables?
I think the non-negotiables are have a joint bank account.
And if you're both working or whoever's working, that money should go into the joint bank account.
If you're not going to have a joint bank account and money is going somewhere else and then being funneled every month into a house account, you kind of need to know what is being earned.
So, for example, the four corners of a divorce in California, not including child custody, are going to be what you own, your assets, what you owe, your debts, what you earn, your income.
and what you spend, your expenses.
That's it.
I think everybody should kind of have a handle on that.
And that's why I said, if you have a business manager, financial manager, get in there once a quarter.
I'm sure you're getting credit card bills.
I mean, I do.
I've had some clients where the credit card bills are just going to the family office and being paid.
