Cliff, I've enjoyed talking to you.
Thanks for being here.
Up next, what if the worst things that happened to you as a kid still live in your immune system?
Childhood stress causes health problems in later life.
But stick around because there's things you can do about that.
Adverse childhood experiences, you know, traumatic and difficult events when you're a young kid, they can lead to serious health problems later in your life.
But there's some good news.
It's not a sealed fate.
There are things you can do later in life to work against negative outcomes if you had a rough childhood.
I'm here with Laurel Vander Torn to discuss all this.
She's a licensed therapist and runs Laurel Therapy Collective that serves California and Florida.
Laurel, a joy having you back.
Hi.
So this is kind of wild that like having a particularly rough childhood can lead to health outcomes.
At the commercial break, I said my brother used to slug me in the shoulder a lot as a kid.
And now my shoulder aches as an adult.
That is not what we're talking about.
Things like extreme poverty, extreme trauma, things like this.
OK, now we're talking about me again.
Yeah.
