So I think that understanding that variation is incredibly important.
And I think that there, you know, there are for-profit hospices like Vitas that have that have been around for a long time that really have the resources to support people whose goals of care
are are less aligned with the traditional hospice philosophy.
And then I I have one more point.

Um in terms of the the quality ratings.
So um if you come to my talk tomorrow I have a a talk on hospice quality and um one of the really interesting things that we found in our study was just how many hospices do not have a quality rating uh because they're too small or too new.
It was like one third of all hospices in this category.
And I just think there's all these small new
hospices that are flying under the radar and we just have no idea what's going on with them.

Uh I was recently I attended the um stakehol a stakeholder session for people in California to comment.
The California Department of Public Health is taking comments right now on how to better regulate hospice following the moratorium on new hospices opening um in California.

And yeah, I think it's incredibly concerning.
There's absolutely no reason why there should be a thousand hospices in LA County.
Yeah.
