Well, strategy to me, it's approaches to increasing the value of the business.

And whether I work with a startup or a $100 billion market cap company, I'll get these strategy decks before I go in to help them organize it, because they're struggling with exactly what you're talking about.

I look at it, and for the bigger ones, it's not uncommon to have over 100 strategic initiatives.

So I go through all of it and I come back and say, great, I've distilled this out for you before we get started here.

Out of the 100 strategic initiatives in a really large business, only 22 are actually strategic initiatives in that when you accomplish it, it'll cause a step change in the value of your business.

The rest of them, I put them in this category called please do your job.

And so now let's take these 22 strategic initiatives and divide it by function.

within the organization.

And then we actually assess each one of them.

What's the risk to the value of the business or the most important number if we don't do it?

What's the positive impact if we do do it?

And how difficult is it to do?

And what's it going to cost to do?

And when do we think we can get it done?

And what are the major milestones along the way?

And every single week we're tracking to that and who's the one accountable leader to be navigating this thing happening or getting it across the finish line.

And now it becomes a lot simpler.

So if you have a strategic planning session and we want to come up with things that will materially move the needle, not continuous improvement, I think that should be part of all of our cultures.

Everybody's continually improving and developing.

But what's something we can do that's completely different or different enough from what we have been doing that will cause a step change in our results?
