You're a defensive-minded coach.
The last thing you want to hear, and again, when you're a head coach, you're responsible for all of it, E.A.,
But we know this when you're a defense or offensive minded coach, that's the last thing you want to hear is that your side of the ball is struggling.
So to me, the biggest storyline for training camp is AG taking over the play calling and what that will look like for the Jets going forward.
Yeah.
So the funny thing is, and you brought up a great point, the 2024 season, the last time Aaron Glenn was calling plays, I went back and broke down some of that tape over the last few days, going back into last week.
And the interesting thing is, because people always get caught up in
Is it going to be a 3-4?
Is it going to be a 4-3?
And for people that don't understand, when you say 3-4, you're talking about three big defensive linemen and essentially four linebackers behind them, which essentially you can have a five down front because those outside linebackers, EA, are going to be on the line of scrimmage.
So it's essentially like a 5-2, right?
So if you're putting numbers on it, five guys up front, two interior linebackers behind them, or a traditional 4-3 where you have four defensive linemen and three linebackers behind them.
The interesting thing is, and this is why I can't wait to get to training camp to see how he's going to call this defense, because when you look at what he had in Detroit, Derek Barnes was so big for what Aaron Glenn wanted to do because he was so versatile.
He reminded me of a guy that I looked up to that I played with for the Jets in Calvin Pace.
Calvin Pace was so versatile in Rex Ryan's defense because he could play the sandbacker, but he could also be on the edge in a traditional three, four.
That's what Derek Barnes did.
So like when they were multiple, you hear Aaron Glenn talk about, you know, variation when it comes to the defensive front, front variation.
That's what he means being multiple, being able to put out multiple fronts up front.
But he was able to do that in Detroit because he had a guy like Derek Barnes.
The Jets were able to do that when I was playing because we had a guy like Calvin Face.
