Now, some state regulators are very concerned about the consumers to the point that they are going really slow
with approving these increases, and some of them, like California, hasn't approved any rate increases in recent months.
It says that it is going back and reviewing the adequacy of those premium refund programs that we started this interview talking about, because California in particular contends that the insurance companies didn't refund enough money to consumers back in 2020, and they want to make sure before they
approve any rate increases now that consumers were indeed treated fairly back in 2020.
That is worrisome for the car insurers that California is doing this because California is the nation's most populous state.
So it's no small thing that a giant state hasn't approved any of the recent rate increase requests.
When a state insurance department approves an increase, the insurance company will then put that into effect as existing policies come up for renewal.
So most people have six-month insurance contracts.
So if you bought a policy...
six months ago and then a rate is increased, you're not going to be hit with that increase for another six months because the insurer won't be able to put it into effect until it comes up for renewal.
So they go into effect over a period of six months.
And they also are in effect as people come to that insurance company and take out a new policy.
Oh, it's my pleasure.
Thank you.

This is pretty much an initiative on the part of John Hancock.
Hancock, in launching a product called John Hancock Vitality a few years ago, it started out focused on healthy eating and healthy lifestyles.
That has a lot to do or is believed to have a lot to do with how long people live and whether they will live long.
