How that happened I'll never know because at 2-0 down they looked more likely to lose 10-0 than actually draw 2-2 and Steve Bruce even took Joel Linton off and replaced him with a defender and every bit of important performance data that we look at that are provided by Opta suggest they should really be in the relegation zone.
I mean in terms of expected goals they have the lowest output with 21 which is three worse than any other side
Expected goals against, puts them third bottom with only West Ham and Aston Villa worse off.
And they face the second most amount of shots this season, that's 397.
But?
But, go on.
If Newcastle get to the top four, I'll literally eat my head.
I'm going to credit Steve Bruce here for the never-say-die attitude that he's put into this Newcastle team.
And the sprinkling of quality they have in the form of Alan St-Maximin, who's becoming a real cult hero on signside, is probably what's saving their season to a certain extent.
They've won just one game in XI without him and seven from XIV with him in the side.
So that goes from a 50% win ratio with him in the side to a 9% without.
Wow.
That sort of sums up just how important he has been.
And that's over quite a big sample size of over 20 games.
So I think we can rely on that data to suggest that Sir Maximum is without question Newcastle's most important player.
absolutely yeah love will be in the air I think at the Emirates because there's going to be a debut full debuts for Valentino Lazzaro and Danny Rose Valentine's weekend special absolutely I'm quite interested to see how Lazzaro gets on actually if Steve Bruce decides to throw him in because he's he only made four starts for Inter Milan this season so he might not be up to speed yet but he's he's a sort of a tricky pacey wide man sort of quite similar to Sir Maxwell in a way he's been compared to to Willian in parts with his style of play so it'll be interesting to see how he gets on and also I think
a great opportunity for Danny Rose to really sort of reignite his career again I mean he's got so much proven quality and I'm sure there's the reason he's moved to Newcastle in order to try and get into that England squad because there is a there is a space in that squad at left back at the moment yeah Ron yeah Lewis mentions about potential Euro 2020 place of Danny Rose do you think he'll be there
Brandon Williams at Manchester United, he might have an outside chance.
Thank you.
Cheers, Pete.
