So you can feel the water.

You can feel these different textures.

Mm-hmm.

And you think that a flat sea would be the best rowing, but it isn't because you have to cut the surface, rip the water, and then get momentum going with the boat.

But when there's some wind and the waves are aerated, it's light and fluffy and it's like rowing through silk.

And I didn't know the ocean had texture.

And underneath the water.

So every week you need to get in the water and clean the bottom of the boat.

Yeah.

It's the scariest part of the whole thing.

I'm now going to get out of the thing that's keeping me alive.

Well, when I was rowing with somebody else, I couldn't wait to put some distance between the two of us.

So I loved it under there.

And what you don't realize is that because you're so slow moving is that there's a whole ecosystem underneath your boat that are using your shadow for protection.

No.

Yeah.

So it's like 50 fish under the boat.

And you need to keep that ecosystem in check because if stuff grow on the bottom of the boat, then fish come to eat those and bigger fish come to eat those.

And before you know it, yeah, you have blue marlin and these billfish kind of sparing around you.

You've got to keep it small, the chain.
