Now, management should manage consultant rostering, but it isn't just about, oh, the consultant will work on a Saturday on his own.

Because that will not deliver an improvement in the quantum or quality of care.

But we have to extend the working week of all people in the health service because we have a 5 million population, ever-growing mobility and ever reliance upon a health system.

We have no choice.

Expensive, yes, but we all benefit and the economy benefits most of all.

Well, look, in fairness, and I have to say this, and I say this with a heart and a half, who'd be in government?

It is a tankless job.

I mean, no matter what they do, somebody's going to tell them they're wrong.

So I do, you know, people in, you know, it's hard to throw stones at a glass house until you've been there.

So that's point one.

Point two, I have to echo Duncan's point.

The VAT reduction on the hospitality sector, none of those think tanks, none of those economic advisory bodies felt that was the right thing to do or that the sector needed it.

Number one, and that's 700 million a year from this July that the state is giving in a subsidy to that sector.

And, you know, the big food chains and all the rest, the ones that begin with M and S and all the rest are going to put it all into their pockets.

But secondly, in terms of trying to address these issues, like I just made the point, like our high street banks last year reported a joint profit, the two main ones, of three point three billion.

Yes.

Now, why is it that we don't look at taxing that in terms of government and access?

Because it certainly isn't the taxpayer and the squeeze middle who are getting the benefit of banks in this country with a 5 million population making 3.3 billion.

in a year between the two of them.

And that could be used certainly to fund our services so that the corporation tax could be stored away for the rainy day.
