Appearances
They use Solov off the right as kind of a second striker, kind of false winger to obviously play the team all around Haaland.
But I thought Ivory Coast was so, so good out wide.
They're kind of triangles.
They get an attack.
The way they get the ball into the wing is the fullback to kind of join in.
I know everyone's talking about Yandere Mande and where his future lies.
and kind of how much money he might be worth and how good a tournament he's having but I think he's kind of set up same as Nicolas Pepe and they've got a whole you know real depth of wingers in the rest of that team they're set up to kind of play in that way they get the ball into them a lot they get runners beyond I think their striker options are never really that great so they don't really bother with kind of building up down the pitch a huge amount and then they get midfielders into the box really well to kind of you know bring those wingers to life have options at crosses and cutbacks
So I think two teams that can really threaten from out wide.
And Norway have obviously got kind of the star power, but I think there's a lot to like about the Ivory Coast team.
Yeah, they beat other teams, Germany, Spain, go back four years ago.
They beat England at Wembley.
This is a team that actually at times I think are better without the ball.
Even game one against the Netherlands, I thought they were really, really good, sitting a really solid 5-4-1.
This is a team as well playing without Karim Mutomah, one of their star players who got injured not too kind of soon before the tournament.
And I think partly the system was built around him having pace kind of in that number 10 spot.
They play with one striker in Ayuso Ueda because he's kind of so physical, he can run the channels really, really well.
And they're fun.
They've got like inverted wing backs.
They're playing, you know, a left footer, right wing back and the same off the left because they want these kind of neat passing combinations.
They're not kind of a stodgy back five that's just let's sit deep and, you know, block teams out and be physical.
