I'd say if you were making the logical case, it would probably be points in the bag versus games in hand.

It feels like at least in the short term, he's recognized that he's so special in a creative sense that you don't do that with him.
You accommodate him and you change the roles of other players around him because he can be that X factor and he has been for City.
To me, it speaks to the dirty secret of Premier League refereeing, which is that you don't get what you don't ask for.
