I feel like every couple of years I'm like, hmm, maybe it's time to read The Captain Prince trilogy again.
To return to my loves.
And, like, I kind of pick up...
I'm mostly focused on the love story now, but when I read it at the beginning, that kind of is so clear and apparent.
But also the thing is that they are both really alone and really don't have anybody else.
So it's like at the very beginning of book one, Damon has literally been dropped into this country.
He doesn't know anybody.
Yeah, terrible things have happened to him.
And then slowly over time, he kind of learns that Lauren is more similar to him than he is dissimilar.
It's so good.
I actually did an interview with CS by Cat when I worked at my old job.
And we did β yeah, I was like a co-host.
So we actually got into that kind of topic, which I found really interesting.
And I hope I kind of get this right, but basically β
Because of the Hays Code, that was in like the 50s or 60s or maybe even earlier.
In film, like gay or queer characters weren't allowed to be in the movie unless like their story had to end badly for them.
Like you weren't allowed to be openly queer and have a happy ending, which is so sad.
I didn't know that was an actual rule.
I just thought that that was like...
I'm not sure if it was, like, an explicit, like, rule or if it was just sort of, like, on the down low thing that everybody knew.
