I think it's just, I mean, again, I read it when I was young.

It was one of my first sort of Australian experiences.

And yet I heard, I mean, it's set in DC and I think she did that for, I don't know if it was her publisher.

Yes, I mean, it felt like a complete disconnect.

I didn't understand how these particular people with this particular vernacular could be in Washington, D.C.

It made no sense to me, but I still loved the book and the house is so absorbing that you're not really thinking about the setting, but I would love to get my hands on an early version of that book that's set in Australia because I think that's where it could be even better.

The dialogue is just extraordinary.

I mean, it's just an extraordinary book.

It's unlike anything else.
