I don't owe anybody any part of that process.
I own and now understand every step from the writing to the ISBN, to the copyright page, to the editing process.
I owned every aspect of it and kind of learned everything along the way.
And what came out of it is this baby that I created that is all mine.
And yeah, I would absolutely do it that way again.
And I think like we're so lucky to live in a time where that's kind of the obvious option, you know, where you're not having to, you know, write the book and then, you know, give it to somebody else for approval or disapproval or whether or not it's worthy of their investment or, you know, you can just kind of put it out into the world and like trust the universe and your community just to decide those things for you.
I love it, and the animation and everything.
It was great.
So, I mean, I think you can want out of something or want change in general, like sort of vaguely without limit forever and never act on it because there's no sort of point B that you're moving towards.
And I think that the reason that that piece of advice, which I...
repeat so often when I'm telling the story because it's such a central like sort of pivotal moment for me was because it gave me and and she said she said I don't care if it's two weeks from now or two years from now but whatever it is like put the date on the calendar and and this was the key to it but the rest of that sentence which was and spend the intervening time figuring out
you know, sort of what you need to wrap your head around in order to get ready for that moment.
And that wasn't just a financial thing.
It wasn't really a financial thing at all.
We were fine.
It was more of just wrapping my mind sort of psychologically around that change because, you know, as much as I was miserable, and I think this goes...
This through line goes for all of us, not just me, but as much as I was miserable in that role, it was an enormous part of sort of my identity.
And as much as I might not want to admit it, an enormous part of probably my self-worth at that point, because I had worked so long to develop this level of expertise and the value that I sort of contributed to the world, if that's what you want to call it as an M&A attorney.
it took that form.
And so the date I ended up putting on the calendar was about six months out from that time.
