So I think that's a really hard question and I've been really trying to That's why
I've been thinking about this a lot.
Like, I think culture change is so difficult.
And like, I guess, like having having done this more exploratory work, my next question is, well, like, how do I actually change this?
Like, are there interventions that I can come up with to like change this?
And I've been thinking, like, well, first of all, I think that
It is very hospital dependent.
You can't have like a one size fits all intervention that works for like every hospital in the nation.
Like I think we really need to understand what strengths and weaknesses are in different hospitals.
You have to think about like the dynamics of leadership, what their incentives are, the you know what what the people in the institution are like and that sort of thing.
And so, you know, having an understanding of like a hospital's, you know, ethical climate for
example, having an understanding of like how good do teams work together, in multidisciplinary like communication and respect for different types of people in the the hospital team, all those sort of things I think need to be taken into account.
Um and I think that any intervention that is attempting to um change culture needs to be a multi-pronged intervention um that that acts at many different levels of the healthcare system.
So you know
not just like the team or like the palliative care service, but it really needs to be like multi-pronged and multi-level across the institution.
I I know that there's many different um people around the country that are trying to think of culture change, particularly around end-of-life care and palliative care.
And you know, I think this is something that I'm continuing to think about and excited to work with other people who are thinking about this as well, because it's very complicated and challenging.
Oh yeah.
So Randy was, you know, one of my most beloved mentors, and I miss him dearly.
