It's like how we think about what's right and wrong.
Yeah, I I think that's a really important point.
Um, you know, I think one of the the um challenge was challenges with the focus on autonomy is that sometimes people uh can equate that to like giving blanket, you know, a menu of choices without
um without making a recommendation.
And so like say stating that something is a standard of care, stating that this is like the very appropriate thing to do or a recommendation is really important and can really help guide the conversation from the beginning.
I can go first.
Um I I think that um
I think that it's helpful to have um things like this.
Um, but I also continue to worry that um there's still the problem of people not being able to anticipate their future self, especially with dementia.
I mean, you know, a lot of us, um I mean, any of us we think, oh, I wouldn't many of us.
I I mean there have been studies about this that you know a lot of us wouldn't want to be would say we wouldn't want to be in a disabled state or wouldn't want to have that particular lifestyle.
But then when we get there, um or if we get there, um
we're okay with it.
Um, you know, be it disability or with dementia, where you know, you're maybe you've forgotten, but you're you're happy.
And so I think it's just so and so difficult for us to anticipate what our future state might be.
that you know you can write those things down and and yes, that'll probably be helpful.
And I think that's actually more helpful for the family to help make them feel more comfortable about making these decisions.
But in terms of like what actually that particular person might be feeling at that particular time when they've advanced to like moderate or advanced dementia.
um it might be completely different.
And so I think that yeah, I I think it's still challenging.
