Well you gotta you gotta get it in thirty minutes or an hour.

So I I get that.

Th there is.

Part of it has to do with the ending.

Um, so I I'll leave that.

unspoiled, but uh I have a friend, Becky, uh Smith, hence the Don Smith.

The Don comes from my friend Don who had a stalker, and the Smith comes from my friend Becky Smith, who is a vet tag.

And she uh she just was told me so many stories and she was so willing to share her stories with me.

And not being in that profession, although I've owned animals, my mainly cats, my whole life, um, it was fascinating to see from their perspective what what vet techs have to go through and less with the animals, more with the owners.

And it also let me make Dawn a very sympathetic character when you bring an animal in who's hurt and the owner is being callous and Dawn is not callous.

So it helped

to develop her character just by seeing how she treats the animals.

Well, I I just actually I'd been at Thriller Fest and I talked to Jeffrey Daver.

And I was asking him about it, you know, about the the animals in the book.

And uh he's like, Oh, and he's like, never kill a dog.

He's like, You'll lose your fans immediately.

And so I took that to heart.

My animals are are safe.

And and that's a spoiler, but I want people to know that my animals are safe in the book.

And then not long after that, I'm I'm late to the game, but I watched John Wick.
