Greenland is already home to the U.S.

's northernmost airbase and a radar station that's used for detecting missiles and monitoring space.

Gaining control over Greenland could give the US government new opportunities to expand its military presence in the Arctic, as well as access to critical materials to build the economy of the future without relying on the likes of Beijing.
