Well, see, that's what's interesting is in 2021, so 2021 to 2025,
there's about $2.5 million that go into the program.
So instead of that $1 million per year that's authorized, only about $500,000 or half of the allocated funds went into the program.
That resulted in 10,000 pen-raised birds being released per year.
And so the question that they're kind of raising through this is, we're not limited by the number of pheasants that we can produce.

The dollar amount at this point, we're limited by the amount of land that we can put it on.
And so we're then we're now we're asking to go out there and put it on private and federal land so that we can fill ostensibly to have more hunter recruitment.
But really what it seems to be like is to fill that entire one million dollar budget shortfall that the prison has.

And what he clarified is this isn't a request for additional money, and it's been reported on as

That's not actually what the change is.
The change is where those birds can go.
And so I asked him, is there going to be some sort of quid pro quo where if we put state-funded birds on private land, is that going to result in more access?
Because that sounds like a great deal for me, or at least a silver lining.
And he said that is the intent, but they're not in conversations with any specific landowners at this point.
Federal land, he didn't address specifically.
