So this is a study that covers one over 1 million collisions and 96 million hourly traffic observations.
Collisions are 14 times more frequently two hours after sunset than before, which is pretty clear.
The fallback shift,
puts peak traffic into darkness at the time of the rut, which also sees more deer injuries.
Year-round DST would prevent approximately 36,550 deer deaths, 33 human deaths, 2,054 injuries, and $1.2 billion in costs annually.
Permanent standard time, which would be not shifting the clocks, would make collisions worse at $2.4 billion annually.
Yeah.
And so finally the, the ultimate question I wanted to answer is your hunt schedule.
Do you have weekends or weekends, but on a work day, if you're trying to get in before or after.
does permanent daylight saving time give hunters more hours before or after and what's the trade-off?
