As you've seen, the game has grown tremendously. And even in the post-Kaitlyn Clark era. But I just want to go through a quick timeline of what we've seen the past few years. 2021, the inequities and inequalities between the men's and women's tournament went absolutely viral. 2022, the women were finally allowed to use the term March Madness.
And beforehand, it was just called the Women's Tournament. Absolutely hate that. In 2023, a record of 9.9 million people watched the women's final. And in 2024... 18.9 million watch, which was four more than the men's final.
This year, the sky does actually seem like the limit, but one of the big conversations that came up while I was watching with my family, we're watching both the men's and the women's was about neutral sites. And if the women's tournament should move,
to the neutral sites or are we just not going to follow the men and stick around personally i would love to see it as a neutral site tournament heading forward but as a player how does neutral sites affect the women's tournament or just like the general vibe of the game So when I was at UCLA, we were kind of good or whatever.
To be honest, there's not much behind it other than the fact that your fan bases both have to travel. So maybe it would be like even keeled because especially in the first and second round tournaments, based on what we've seen this year, there have been humongous blowouts.
So maybe it's a little bit like more for the team who would maybe be a 15, 13, honestly, any team between like 15 and 11 seed, some more motivation. Maybe we'd see some more upsets because the crowd isn't fully behind them. But with that said, I definitely see why the players would like it and why it is a great thing because from what we've seen on TV, the fan bases have been going strong.
fit is a big thing in the W that's one of the worst things to see like especially towards the end of training camp when all the cuts are being made and you're like dang like you really thought that they'd fit in but it just didn't work and then it's kind of down to crunch time where it's like okay we have to find another team that works for them and that's kind of when it gets chaotic but speaking of expansion Ro you're on the Valkyries and this is their first season so with that
the team has not played together. The team doesn't know each other. It's a very new team. So what are y'all doing to kind of mesh, gel together and just meet each other to begin with?

And UCLA is getting this for the first time. Great accomplishment for them, though some coaches had some things to say. Let's take a look.
Yeah, I was when I saw Dawn Staley's comments, I immediately went to do my little notes or not even notes, but like analytics on all the schedules. And I actually have some interesting takeaways that I think validates what she was saying. South Carolina played 15 ranked games. Two of them came in the conference tournament. Their losses were to UConn, Texas and UCLA.
The lowest ranked team they played was Tennessee at 18. But the average ranking of the ranked teams was 9.1. Yeah. Whereas you look at USC, the average ranking of their 11 ranked games was 11.2. Texas 9.9, which hot take. I don't think Texas should get a number one seed.
Yeah. And honestly, I agree with her. yeah but we do have to move on to unraveled which yesterday we had such a fun night attending and we saw the rose lift the trophy oh where's my thing congratulations team rose it was interesting though because if you don't know unraveled the fourth quarter is determined by a winning score and this winning score was reached with a free throw.
