And I was looking for places.

It's not my story, but to cut a long story short, I found a place just down the road from my house, the Catholic Church, old school space.

They used it for boxing gym back in the days.

And I just want a group of friends to train together.

I was working with Dojo Dixon, and Dojo said, why don't you start your own gym?

Because Wayne already started his own gym in Mangere.

Yeah.

But then Uncle Ian promoted Wayne, so he had less time to train guys.

Yeah.

So he sent his guys to train with me.

Yeah.

So that's how I started.

I started with, you know, about a dozen guys who, you know, Wayne already taught them how to fight and they could fight, you know.

So and Wayne trusted me more than send him to anyone else to train, you know.

So I was training this guy.

I was still fighting myself, you know.

This was 1987.
