So the word repent means to change the mind.
It's almost like a child coming home.
It's like, I remember where I live.
So I need to U-turn.
I need to go a different direction than where I'm heading.
And see, that is the danger of modern day Christianity.
They didn't argue.
They came home.
But repentance is not remorse.
Remorse feels bad.
Repentance stops.
Remorse cries over the consequences, but repentance ends the relationship.
A simple way to think about this is as if you were doing a U-turn on 180.
Repentance says that if I'm going in a certain direction, I have a revelation of what Jesus has done on Calvary.
I recognize my sin, and I say, I am going to now make a complete U-turn, and I'm going to do whatever I can to go into the opposite direction.
Does that make sense?
So this is what I'm realizing, though.
This is what I'm realizing.
A U-turn is not pulling over long enough to cry and then merging back into the lane of sin.
U-turn is stopping turning completely around and going in the opposite direction and Some of us the turn may not be as smooth the first time You might have to correct the wheel
