Ooh la la.
Thinking about it like a panther helped.
Please doff your cap.
I'm Stuart Wood, a Labour member of the House of Lords, former special advisor to Gordon Brown for 10 years and then advisor to Ed Miliband for five years.
I was, yes.
I mean, Gordon actually had two final days because he left number 10 when the election happened and then there was the indeterminate result and he went back in squatting for five days and I was one of the few people he brought back in, which was weird because we weren't allowed to use our computers or plug things in.
I do, yeah, yeah.
It's very, it's very strange.
It's very strange.
When we arrived in 2007, after 10 years of Tony Blair, all the advisors queue up, go through what's called the link door.
There's this sort of secret Star Trek door between the cabinet office at 70 Whitehall goes into the back of Downing Street.
And we walked through and all our kind of assistants were lined up and we were matched off like a kind of dating agency.
And you went to your room and they all had tears in their eyes.
And we thought, oh my God, they must really hate us.
You know, it must be all these Blairites have told us.
We held them to the brow.
And I thought, why?
And then I realised three years later when we left, because they just said goodbye to people they'd worked 24 hours a day with seven days a week for years.
And it was a human thing.
And that's what it was about.
