So I'm Lorna Nolan.

I work in the SnowPlus experiment.

My job title is junior staff scientist.

I work in like the quality assurance for all the chemicals that we're putting in the detector.

I'm sure you're familiar with, if you have energy and it splits into particles, it creates a particle and an antiparticle, and then they would annihilate each other.

So one of the biggest mysteries in physics that we still have is the Big Bang.

In theory, that would have just created equal parts matter and antimatter.

And they would have just kept annihilating each other and we would never have formed us.

So we know that there was a matter, antimatter imbalance came from somewhere.

So our theory is that it came from neutrinos, because if they're their own antiparticle, essentially, then it would have thrown off the balance and we could have actually began to generate matter and see what we see now.
