There's so many things that can touch our kids, you know, in this era of the Internet, you know, the idea about who they are and what they should be in their identity and how they feel about themselves and others and relationships and like
Our worlds used to be so small.
Our worlds were so much smaller when we were growing up in our neighborhood and our neighbors and our father and our grandparents and stuff.
Yeah, well, back in the day, like my grandfather, when you used to abandon your family, you just move one town over and start again.
You don't even need to drive two hours to start a new life.
You never see your kids again.
Hopefully, hopefully they will.
hopefully they'll resent the phone from seeing their dad.
And what we've given them growing up in the north is they have the taiao, they have their whenua, you know, they have their grandparents, they have all these amazing things that hopefully they do fall in love with fishing and diving and quad bikes and, you know, 90 mile beach and riding horses and, you know, killing cows and like all the things that I love about where I grew up.
Hopefully that's enough for them.
But like all, you know, like all kids, you know, every K-pop demon hunters and Spidey and all that stuff.
Yeah, but that's a pretty small window when you really think about the day, especially as an insomniac that doesn't really sleep.
So it's like you're, yeah, there's no phones when the kids come home and then, yeah, till the end of the evening.
And then what that means is you stay up late working after you fall asleep at like nine.
I have no discipline.
So having it even just in my pocket, I have no discipline to not get up.
I get an email like,
Oh, that is so hard.
The first is that I think you're one of the most powerful things that you can do for your kid is just be interested in them.
So that is like listening to them explain their favorite Pokemon.
