Just a few years ago, Luke Bateman was being cheered on by tens of thousands of roaring NRL fans in stadiums where he played for the Canberra Raiders, and that's not to mention the countless more league diehards watching him on TV.
But for all of his fans, Luke often felt isolated and alone, and found solace in books, especially fantasy novels, not that he could tell anyone that.
