What was a review?
What did that look like when you were playing for the Raiders?
Yeah, I would say the reviews of performances in the NRL or in the teams I was involved in could be really, really harsh, really demeaning.
Uh, they, sometimes I felt, you know, sometimes they became less about performance reviews and more about personal reviews.
Wow.
In many ways.
And once again, that was not just me, you know, that's every, every boy and man in those environments, you know, they can become, depending on, uh,
Depending on how your season's going, depending on wins and losses, reviews really, I would say the energy of reviews could really change from one week to the next.
And what about reviewing each other, say, in the locker room?
What was that like?
I think once you get into those environments and this is, once again, this is conditioning, this is culture.
These are things that are invisible and you're unaware of them.
But when you're in those hyper-masculine, very patriarchal, misogynistic, highly competitive environments, it's a very dog-eat-dog world.
And they're extremely harsh environments where insults and the pulling apart and picking upon each other is really present.
It's kind of accepted and wrapped up in this sense of,
I'm doing this.
Like I'm your teammate.
I'm someone who cares for you.
We're, we're brothers.
