That would have been when I can sort of pinpoint my gambling really taking a different, I would say, different tone.

And it was the first time I'd gone into horse ownership before.

And it was my very first horse to own.

It was the very first start it was having for me as an owner.

And the trainer said, you know, this horse wins.

And it was a favorite.

You know, it was an odds-on favorite.

And I had $400 on it.

And that to me, like, I remember watching the race with my heart, like beating, like it was, you know, like I'd run a marathon, like my heart is beating, my breathing short and shallow and I'm watching this race and she won by, you know, a country mile.

But it was just like, I was so gripped by this fear of like, I've got $400 on the line.

And, you know, for me, I'd been a person who'd bet 20 bucks, you know, and

And that for me was like massive.

And at that stage, I would have been 21.

I would have been 21 years old, yeah.

So if you're out, say, having dinner with friends or something, would it be something that was happening in the background?

Absolutely.

When I was into a deep gambling addiction, I would be gambling at dinners, at weddings, if I was sitting with my family, if I was sitting with my partner on the couch after dinner watching Netflix, I would be gambling.

Did you start feeling dependent on other things as well?

Yeah.

I started really like abusing drugs and alcohol as well.
